Community volunteering scheme

The Community Volunteering Scheme is a grant programme funded by the Voluntary and Community Unit (VCU) within the Department of Social Development (DSD). It’s objective is to:

· Encourage and support volunteering;
· Create and enhance opportunities for volunteers that
will encourage learning and good practice;
· Promote a positive image of volunteering and
community participation.

It is designed to support and develop a wide range of projects that promote volunteering opportunities (within voluntary and community groups) targeted at people without paid work and other groups who are currently under-represented in the volunteering population. CVS is divided into two areas: main grants and small grants.

The small grants Programme makes grants of up to £1,000 per year available to small and locally based volunteer-involving groups and organisations. This programme is administered and distributed in the Causeway area by the Causeway Volunteer Centre. It is advertised in February/March each year in the local press.

Further details are available from Causeway Volunteer Centre.
